Spring Break 2008

Well so far my Spring Break has consisted of hanging out getting some drawing done and spending more money than I should. Good news is I got my taxes done and I'm getting a pretty big refund! Hopefully it will offset all the money I spent. Most of it has been on food and mostly drink (drinking has become very expensive.) And the rest on art. I have moments where I can't help myself and start spending money on artists I admire. I justify this by telling myself that the prints I buy will be worth more over time and they might be assuming I will let them go. I have books and prints that have sold for more than I bought them but here are my latest purchases...

It's a Shepard Fairey print I bought from Metropark, a store in the mall. It cost a bit but I justified it to myself with the idea that it would sell for more. According to http://www.thegiant.org/wiki/index.php/Peace_Goddess_Burgundy
"This print was supposed to be Peace Goddess Red but an error led to the wrong ink being used. The print was then made available only for sale through Metropark."

I'm thinking this is good news! Mistakes usually are worth more, and they only ran 150 instead of 200, like they did the other colors.

I felt bad about spending so much money and said I would sell it right away but now I'm thinking what's the hurry, I'll hold onto it for a while.

The other purchase I made was for an Ashley Wood poster. I don't know if it will be become worth more in the future but I just like his work and he signs everything he sells off his site. Its also hard to catch when he is selling something off his site because it seldom happens, so who knows maybe it will be worth something. I just thought it was a cool image.

The thing I currently have my eye out for is a 18 x 24 in. print to take up an empty spot on my wall. I'm thinking another Tara Mc Pherson poster if I can catch a deal. I've also been considering this print. But it would be much of an investment and I kinda want something with more color but we'll see...
